Mass Action for Obama plans unofficially to go to Boston Common on September 15th to sign up active progressives to our movement. That day we expect many individuals concerned with plant cultivation and legal issues to be present. Mass Action has no official stance on any farming activity whatsoever other than the fact that we do support Americas Farmers. If you need more information please follow the link. And if you would like to attend please RSVP with your Campaigners Task Force captain.

NE Sand Sculpting Festival: Follow-up

Last Saturday, July 14th, members of Mass Action took to the streets and campaigned for Obama at Revere Beach's Annual Sand Sculpting Festival. It was a beautiful day and people were out to see and be seen.

Mass Action was there at 10am, which was on the earlier side of things, the event's population doubled by noontime and probably maxed out at 2pm. Just as many people were out to be at the beach as the Sand Sculptures (which were astounding feats in and of themselves).

We found people very receptive to receiving materials about Obama, some even asked about signing up to volunteer. It was a very different crowd than typical in Boston, a bit older and a bit more culturally integrated. Many people confessed they didn't know much about politics.

I originally wanted to attend this event because Revere isn't a place that is usually included in Boston area political events and yet the community is very strong and active. I met folks tabling for Revere High School Reunions in fact. It was rewarding to meet people who said they weren't involved in politics and wanted to know why I was.

It was a wonderful day--thanks to everyone who came out!!-- even though not everyone who signed up through my.barackobama were able to attend. So if you are interested in attending an event, always email the event leader or massaction08@gmail.com!

LOWELL FOLK FESTIVAL JULY 28th

Grassroots + Folk Festival = Hope, Action, Change!

The largest folk festival in America happens every year in Lowell, MA. This event showcases expression of "culture" and "diversity" (which I believe 'is an old wooden ship') through music, crafts and food. An estimated 300,000 are expected to attend this event. The festival provides us an excellent opportunity to get out the word about Barack Obama all the while enjoing the day and festivities.

Please arrive at the Lowell Folk Festival on Saturday, July 28th by 3PM, wearing your Obama gear.

Mass Action will rally on Merrimack Street in front of St. Anne's Church at 4PM to discuss our plans to hand out information, dialogue, sign people on to the movement and enjoy the music. It will be a blast!

John M. Mitchell is the point person for this event.

Hi Folks,

So you have nothing to do this Saturday?? Well have I got the news for you!!

Revere is hosting their 14th annual Sand Sculpting Festival this week and we are going Saturday to "Bah-Rock" the vote!!

Why don't you join us?

I'm Jessica, an Obama volunteer through Mass Action and I'll be coordinating this event.

Weather is looking good for this weekend, clear skies and a high of eighty degrees.

What to bring?
Food/money for lunch, water, sunscreen, a pen or two, whatever Obama gear you can wear, hat/sunglasses, and plenty of enthusiasm.

Where to meet?
Right now, we're planning to start at 10am. The festival started Monday and goes all week. Saturday has the highest traffic. I'm planning to be at the event 10-4pm, and am asking people to sign up for two hour shifts during that time. Let me know what you would like to commit and I can work with what we have.
Revere is T accessible, it's on the blue line and you can find out more about the festival at http://www.fitzysnowman.com/sculptors.html.

What are we doing?
Saturday's goal will be to sign up people to volunteer in the Boston area (through the great Mass Action for Obama) and also let them know about what a great resource this website is!
I'll be managing logistics which includes talking with NH headquarters re materials and what support they can offer.
Please let me know if you have any questions/comments/suggestions--I'm completely open to hearing from you.

How to sign up?
Visit http://my.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/4jwrl for more details OR simply email me at the address below.

Again, thanks so much stopping by and please get in touch with me even if you just want to introduce yourself.

4th of July

If you can believe it the fourth of July is fast approaching, and so is another opportunity to volunteer for Obama. Mass Action has been specifically requested to assist the campaign in getting out the message of hope, action, change to half-a-million revelers celebrating our Nations birthday. We will be doing dialogue, information dissemination, visibility, and of course signing up supporters! If you want to stick around we will all be treated to a spectacular pyrotechnics display! We plan to work the Hatch Shell and the Riverside area in 3 shifts throughout the day.
The shift times are: 8:30am to 1pm; 1pm to 5pm, and 5pm until the first BANG!
Meeting location will be the Starbucks on Charles Street next to the Charles Street Redline stop. Sign up with the campaign at 603-668-2008, or send an email to sseipelt@barackobama.com. Then e-mail us(Alyse 0r Adam) with the shift you would like.

Down With Hate, Obama '08

I am happy to report that our showing at Pride this past week was very successful!! Despite the unattractive weather, hundreds of people turned out for the parade and fair in downtown Boston. I am also proud to say that members of Mass Action marched in the parade alongside city councilor Michael Flaherty as he officially gave his endorsement of the Senator. The experience was exhilarating and a good time was had by all. We are certain that upcoming events this summer will be equally as fun, so don't forget to sign up for them as they come along!
